The following six individuals have been submitted and certified as candidates for the five open HFUASW director positions:
We will finally be holding our first election for HFUSAW. We have attached all documents your clubs and membership will need to understand the election process and to submit any nominees your club may have. The notice of election document is quit complex so we wanted to try and briefly explain how it will all work.
Any current active member of the HFUSAW in good standing may submit a completed board of director’s nomination form (HFUSAW Director Nomination Form).
All nominees must sign the nomination form acknowledging and agreeing to be a candidate and to serve if elected.
Five (5) active members of HFUSAW must sign the completed nomination form.
The nomination form and HFUSAW bylaws require that a nominee for a HFUSAW director must be an active certified “coach” member in good standing, at the time the form is submitted. This is a requirement to insure that nominees have had a current background check performed.
Nominees must be at least 18 years of age.
All nominees are being considered to fill the five (5) upcoming director vacancies. You are not nominating individuals for any particular director’s position. i.e. you cannot nominate someone solely for the job of Secretary. All individual director jobs will be determined after the election by the votes of the directors during one of their regular meetings.
The only acceptable method of nominating an individual for consideration is to submit a properly completed nomination form.
All completed nomination forms must be hand delivered, received via US mail, or emailed and received ten (10) days prior date (June 20, 2015) to the actual election date (June 30, 2015). This will give the election committee time to validate all the nomination form’s information, certify the candidates and place them on the ballot. Late nomination forms will not be considered or certified.
Directors Kim Ball, Joyce Johnson, Dave Watase, and Rick Williams are not scheduled for possible replacement this year.
Directors Brendan Courtot, Nathan Bingham, Ray Pigott, Jennifer Rivera, and Ryan Sugihara are scheduled for possible replacement during this election.
Although, directors may be scheduled for replacement they can be nominated and voted “back into office” the same year.
A list of approved candidates will be published and emailed to all current members of HFUSAW one (1) week prior to the election.
The actual election will take place at Aiea High School Gymnasium 98-1276 Ulune St, Aiea, HI 96701 on June 30, 2015 @ 7:00 PM
Each active club in good standing can send only one (1) voting member to the polling place, either the club director or their designee.
A voting member can only cast one (1) vote per open seat. So this year they can vote for five (5) different nominees. They cannot vote more than once for any individual nominee.
Oahu voting members must be present at the polling place.
Outer Island voting members can attend the polling place via electronic means.
As you all know, this first election is way behind schedule. We are going to adjust the terms of the directors so that we can get back on schedule and give the new directors a reasonable time to serve. The five (5) newly elected directors will be scheduled for possible replacement in the regularly scheduled August 2017 election. The remaining four (4) directors will be scheduled for possible replacement in the regularly scheduled August 2016 election.
